Sanjay Gupta is a visionary pioneer who revolutionized the Indian comic book industry, shaping generations of readers through his unparalleled creativity and storytelling genius. As the Co-Founder of Raj Comics, he introduced India to its first and most iconic homegrown superheroes — including Nagraj, Doga, Bhokal, Parmanu, Tiranga, and Inspector Steel — creating a universe that became the cornerstone of Indian pop culture.

 

Over the past three decades, Mr. Gupta has built an extraordinary creative legacy spanning over 1000 characters and 600 original comic stories, while editing and publishing more than 2200 titles. His stories blend Indian mythology, social consciousness, and the universal appeal of superhero narratives, inspiring readers to see heroes not just as fictional figures, but as reflections of their own values, struggles, and hopes.

 

Beyond his creative brilliance, Sanjay Gupta has played a pivotal role in nurturing India’s comic talent, mentoring three generations of writers, artists, and editors, and establishing professional frameworks for the Indian comic book ecosystem. His leadership has been instrumental in positioning Indian comics as a serious storytelling medium on par with global counterparts.

Continuing his legacy under the banner of Alpha Comics, Mr. Gupta remains a driving force in the modern comic landscape — developing nearly 50 new concepts and 40 published titles annually. His ongoing mission is to reimagine Indian superheroes for new audiences through transmedia storytelling, merging comics, animation, and digital experiences.
