Apurva Asrani is a National award-winning filmmaker from India, known for crafting socially conscious and emotionally powerful stories. He is the writer and editor of Aligarh (2016), which premiered at the Busan International Film Festival and the BFI London Film Festival, and was also screened at the British Parliament for its contribution to LGBTQ+ representation.

 

Apurva also co-wrote and edited Shahid (2013), which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and won India’s National Award for Best Actor & Director. As an editor, his acclaimed credits include Satya for which he received the Filmfare Award for Best Editing.

 

A prominent voice in Indian cinema, Apurva’s work consistently explores identity, justice, and emotional truth. He edited the popular queer themed series Made In Heaven (Amazon Prime Video) also served as the writer of Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors (Disney+ Hotstar), a critically acclaimed drama about gender and power.

His latest short film as a writer, editor and a producer, The Pact, is a poignant exploration of love, silence, and reconciliation between a father and son.
