About Speaker
Miilind D. Shinde is the Founder and CEO of 88 Pictures, a Mumbai-based animation and media studio known for its high-end storytelling and global co-productions. A veteran of the CG animation industry, he has more than two decades of experience across production, project management, studio set-up and strategic leadership.
Before launching 88 Pictures in 2016, Milind was part of the core leadership team that helped establish the India business unit of DreamWorks Animation across its India and China operations. During his tenure there he worked on major animated franchises including How to Train Your Dragon, Madagascar, Puss in Boots and Kung Fu Panda through DreamWorks’ dedicated India unit and its then China partner studio. He later served as Chief Operating Officer at Assemblage Entertainment, overseeing large-scale production pipelines and international service work.
As Founder and CEO of 88 Pictures, Milind focuses on building an artist-friendly studio that combines creative and technological innovation. Under his leadership the studio has delivered work for global partners and developed its own slate of content, including the acclaimed Star Wars: Visions Volume 2 episode “The Bandits of Golak,” produced in collaboration with Lucasfilm. The company has also expanded into interactive entertainment through its game division, 88 Games.
Deeply committed to talent development, Milind has championed initiatives such as the in-house ‘Gurukul’ training program, which brings aspiring artists from smaller towns into structured three- to six-month learning tracks and integrates them into studio productions. His broader vision is to build a globally respected, India-rooted studio that tells culturally rich stories for audiences around the world, while creating sustainable creative careers for artists and technologists.
